Will Miami win the championship because of Taylor Swift’s curse?
Jinxes and curses are a constant in professional sports. This time, it’s Taylor Swift, the American singer-songwriter who was named the most successful female musician of the 2010s by Billboard and one of the biggest stars of the decade.
ESPN refers to the “Taylor Swift Curse,” in which teams are eliminated from the playoffs in any city that hosts or is scheduled to host her “The Eras Tour,” which she has been touring since March.
Taylor Swift, who has a huge fanbase and draws huge crowds to her shows, has been unable to tour due to COVID-19 since her Reputation Stadium Tour, which sold out 53 shows in 2018, and this year’s The Eras Tour.
With 52 shows scheduled in the U.S., followed by Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil, the tour kicked off on March 17 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and is currently the highest-grossing North American tour of all time.
However, ESPN cited the “curse of Taylor Swift,” as teams in cities associated with the tour have struggled in the NBA playoffs.
ESPN first pointed to the Phoenix Suns.
With the addition of Kevin Durant, there were hopes that Phoenix, anchored by Devin Booker and Chris Paul, could do something this season, but the “De Eras Tour” kicked off in Phoenix’s satellite city of Glendale in March, and the team failed to overcome the curse and lost to Denver.
The Philadelphia 76ers also lost to the Boston Celtics, and coincidentally, the day of their Game 7 loss to Boston was the same day Taylor Swift held her “De Eras Tour” at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia (May 14).
After beating Philadelphia, Boston also lost to Miami to end their playoff run.
Taylor Swift continued her tour at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, immediately following her stop in Philadelphia, and Boston, the capital of Massachusetts, didn’t win a game during her stay, and won all three games after her departure, but ultimately didn’t win the series, according to ESPN.
ESPN also claimed (?) that the future dates of the “De Eras Tour” have cursed the playoffs for NBA teams.
The “De Eras Tour” will be at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on July 27 and 29, and at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on August 3, 4, 5, and 9. The Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Los Angeles Clippers have all pulled out.
We also connected Taylor Swift to the tragedy in New York. 먹튀검증
The New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets, both with New York ties, were also eliminated from the playoffs. ESPN explained that the “De Eras Tour” was held at Matriarch Stadium in East Rutherford, six miles from New York City, for three days last month, from March 26 to 28.
So which team will avoid the “Taylor Swift curse” and take home this year’s Larry O’Brien Trophy? If ESPN is to be believed, it’s the Miami Heat.
The reason is simple. Taylor Swift’s tour is coming to Denver’s Empowerment Field at Mile High next month on April 14 and 15. But Miami isn’t involved. The closest city is Tampa, Florida, but it’s far enough away from Miami that it won’t be affected.
Will Taylor Swift’s curse come true?
Taylor Swift’s last tour, 2018’s Reputation Stadium Tour, drew more than 2.8 million people to 53 shows and grossed more than $450 billion. The ongoing “The Eras Tour” is expected to surpass all of these records.
