Hyojun Lim (Lin Xiaojun) in the short track won his first gold medal after naturalizing in China.
Lim Hyo-jun won the gold medal in the men’s 500m final at the 2022-2023 International Skating Union (ISU) Short Track World Cup 5th event held in Dresden, Germany on the 6th (Korean time) with a time of 41.329 seconds. Lim Hyo-jun, who also won the men’s 5000m relay final, won two gold medals in the event.
After winning the 500m event, Lim Hyo-jun told the International Skating Federation, “I am really happy to win a medal again after many years. He said, “There are many young and good players in China. I will do my best until the end of this season. I am really happy.” 먹튀검증
Lim Hyo-jun was a Korean short track speed skater who won a gold medal at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics wearing the Taegeuk mark. However, he faced difficulties in 2019 when he was accused of forcibly molesting a junior of the same sex.
At that time, Lim Hyo-joon was suspended from qualification for one year by the Korea Ice Skating Federation and lived without a team. In 2021, the Supreme Court confirmed his innocence on the charge of indecent assault, but Lim Hyo-jun had already been naturalized in China.
Even after his naturalization in China, he walked a bumpy road. This is because the Olympic Charter of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) stipulates that ‘in order for an athlete to change nationality and participate in the Olympics, three years must have passed since the international competition in which he participated in the previous nationality’.
At the time, China filled the short track speed skating team with Olympic athletes ahead of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, so Lim Hyo-jun could not play an active part in the national team.
Lim Hyo-joon joined the Chinese national team only this season, but showed a sluggish performance, failing to qualify for individual events until the 4th World Cup. It is meaningful that Lim Hyo-joon was able to shake off the ups and downs he had experienced so far by winning the gold medal.
Lim Hyo-jun, who has a gold medal around her neck, is expected to participate in the International Ice Skating Union World Championships, which will open in Seoul on the 10th.
