Kylian Mbappe could be heading to the Premier League rather than Real Madrid.
“Mbappe has informed Paris Saint-Germain that he will not extend his contract,” French publication L’Equipe reported on 13 July.
“PSG will have to let Mbappe go this summer unless they want to give him away for free. He will be a free agent from January next year,” he said, suggesting that PSG will sell Mbappe this summer in order to receive a transfer fee.
Mbappe, who joined PSG after the 2018 World Cup in Russia for a record fee of €180 million, has since become one of the best players in the club’s history, scoring 212 goals in all competitions for PSG. He has been the league’s top scorer for five consecutive seasons and has lifted 14 trophies with PSG.
However, PSG was not Mbappe’s final destination, as he was also linked with a move to Real Madrid last summer, and even French President Emmanuel Macron had to be persuaded to stay at PSG. However, ahead of this summer’s transfer window, Mbappe appears to have made his intentions clear by handing the club a contract extension notice. 메이저사이트
With Mbappe under contract until the summer of 2024, PSG are suddenly forced to consider a move for the Frenchman.
Real are currently the most likely destination for Mbappe. Having been linked with Mbappe on several occasions, Real were expected to be the most likely destination for the player if he were to leave the club.
However, reports in Spain suggest that Real are not the only possible destination for Mbappe, and that there are other potential suitors.
“PSG preparing for a future without Mbappe,” Spanish media outlet Marca reported on a possible move for Mbappe on Wednesday.
“PSG have confirmed that Mbappe will not leave for free under any circumstances, so it is understood that they will examine his transfer offer from today,” Marca said, adding that PSG are confirming the possibility of a move for Mbappe.
“PSG will get a lot of money for team projects if they sell Mbappe. The amount they could receive for Mbappe has not been disclosed, but Real offered €170 million two years ago for his signature and he now has one year left on his contract,” he said, adding that the amount they could receive for Mbappe could be less than two years ago.
Alongside the expected transfer fee, the publication also speculated on Mbappe’s next destination, with Real revealing a new name.
“Liverpool are another great option to sign if he is on the market,” said Marca, describing the Reds as a possible destination for Mbappe. Mbappe has previously revealed that his mother’s favourite club is Liverpool.
After mentioning Real and Liverpool, the publication pointed out that PSG would have to choose between the two clubs for the transfer fee, as “Mbappe can sign for other clubs from January 2024, so Real and Liverpool would be the least tragic way to avoid a tragedy for PSG”.
Liverpool have also emerged as a possible destination for Mbappe, and it will be interesting to see if PSG, who have so far struggled to keep him due to the lure of Real, can create a tipping point in the transfer talks that will see them choose Liverpool over Real.
