Royal Never Give Up (RNG), which suffered two consecutive losses, including losing to Invictus Gaming (IG), made a strong decision to terminate the contract with coach ‘Tave’ Wong Bak-kan.
RNG announced on SNS on the 3rd that it had terminated the contract with director Tabe. RNG said, “During the coaching period, ‘Tave’ has always been a sincere, prudent and diligent coach.”
Debuting at IG in 2011, Tabe has been a player at OMG and Royal Club, and has worked as a coach at Vichy Gaming (currently Rare Atom), Hong Kong Attitude, and Kaboom Esports. Tabe, who joined RNG in 2019, shared the team’s heyday in 2021 and 2022.
RNG, who won the opening game against OMG, lost the match against IG and Li-Ning Gaming (LNG), dropping to 14th place (1 win, 2 losses). RNG promoted analyst Yeon Hyeong-mo to head coach, and reorganized the coaching staff with Lee “Heart” Gwan-hyeong.
Hyungmo Yeon worked as a coach for Jin Air Green Wings, Najin Black Sword, and WE. In 2018, he also served as a coaching staff for Kingzone Dragon X (now DRX) and Afreeca Freecs (now Guangdong Freecs) in 2019.
RNG also succeeded in retaining support Xi “Ming” Sun-Ming, who was known to be leaving the team, by re-signing a contract.
