‘Eagle hunter’ Doosan Alcantara wins seventh straight against Hanwha…tosses eight shutout innings

Raul Alcantara (Doosan Bears) showed off his “Eagle Hunter” majesty and extended his winning streak to seven games against the Hanwha Eagles.

Doosan swept a three-game midweek series against Hanwha with a 2-1 victory behind Alcantara in a home game of the Baseball World Series 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Monday.

Alcantara was the hero of the game.

The Doosan starter went eight innings, allowing just two hits and no runs. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out 10.

By lowering his ERA from 1.98 to 1.77, Alcantara jumped from fourth to second in the league. In first place is Eric Peddy (NC Dinos) at 1.63.

Alcantara picked up his seventh win of the season to move into third place in wins and third in strikeouts with 80.

Facing Hanwha pushes Alcantara even further.

Since July 5, 2019, the first day he played in a KT WIZ uniform, Alcantara has won seven straight games against Hanwha. In nine appearances against Hanwha, he won seven games without a loss.

Doosan got on the board in the bottom of the second inning when Yang Seok-hwan reached on a throwing error by Hanwha third baseman Noh Si-hwan and Kim Jae-hwan followed with a hit by pitch to put runners on first and second. 메이저놀이터

Hong Sung-ho, who was named to the first team for the first time this season, hit a single to right off Hanwha starter Kim Min-woo.

In the bottom of the inning, Jeong Soo-bin doubled to left-center field and Kim Dae-hyun singled to left to put runners on first and third with no outs, and Yang Yang-ji hit a sacrifice fly to left field.

Hanwha had the bases loaded in the top of the ninth as Kim Tae-yeon, Moon Hyun-bin and Jeong Eun-won singled off Doosan reliever Hong Gun-hee.

Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop quickly sent Park Chi-guk to the mound.

Park got the first batter, Noh Si-hwan, to pop out to shortstop. It was the best possible outcome for Doosan, trading one run for two outs.

With two outs and a runner on third, Park struck out Chae Eun-sung on a fly ball to left field to preserve the win.
